Wanda Colleen Scott, (spinto) soprano, is a native of Gary, Indiana.

Throughout her career as a classical concert singer, Wanda’s vocal timbre, while inherently distinctive, has been compared to the powerful and rich tones of opera great Jessye Norman.

Ms. Scott recently debuted the role of "Serena" for Fleetwood-Jourdain’s concert version of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess.

Ms. Scott made her professional debut with Light Opera Works in the Gypsy Princess and The New Moon. She’s also sung with the Chicago Opera Theatre in Four Saints in Three Acts. She performed as a soprano soloist for the Bravo Chapter of Lyric Chicago and is a featured soloist with The Three Sopranos. Ms. Scott has also sung with the Northwest Indiana Symphony.

Ms. Scott will also perform in the ensemble cast of Porgy and Bess with the Lyric Opera of Chicago in their upcoming season.

Additionally, she’s a featured soloist for many civic and cultural events throughout the United States, including performances for professional sport venues, with some performances being televised on ESPN throughout the world.

While earning her degree at DePaul’s School of Music, she performed in numerous operas, concerts and recitals; most notably, The Magic Flute, Mozart’s Requiem and A Game of Chance. She also earned a music certificate while performing and studying in various cities throughout Italy and Switzerland.

Wanda has studied voice under internationally-renowned opera singers, Anne Perillo and Janice Pantazelos, along with world-renowned pianist and vocal coach, George Tenegal.

In addition to her continued vocal studies, Ms. Scott is also starting preparation for her first CD.

Wanda says that when singing, her voice is an affirmation and tribute to God’s presence, glory and love.
